Lone Star is not a beer you aged with. It’s a beer you outgrew. You drank it before 21, maybe right at 21, and then it stayed exactly where you left it. Somewhere between bad couches, loud nights, and the firm belief that cheap and cold was a personality.

Back then, Lone Star felt regional, proud, and endlessly available. You drank it standing around kitchens, garages, porches, anywhere with a flat surface and questionable lighting. A glass pipe sat on the table like communal property, passed around without discussion, already warm and slightly sticky. Smoke hung in the air. Someone was always telling a story they thought was profound. You believed this was freedom.

You didn’t quit Lone Star dramatically. You just stopped. One day you didn’t buy it. One day you didn’t smoke inside. One day you stopped standing around until 2 a.m. pretending you weren’t tired. Lone Star didn’t make the cut into adulthood, and it didn’t argue.

Now it exists as a relic. A reminder of an era that felt endless while it was happening and vanished completely once it was over. You don’t miss it. You’re just oddly grateful it happened.

Lone Star Beer.
Left behind without resentment.
Never revisited.
Fondly remembered from a safe distance.
